The 2020 Indian Premier League, also known as IPL 2020 will start 19 September 2020 to 10 November 2020 in UAE. The opening match will be played between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians at Sheikh Zayed Stadium at 7:30 pm. There will be 60 matches in 3 Stadiums in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) across ABU DHABI, DUBAI and SHARJAH.

Each tournament honors players with several awards at the end of each season. They are The Orange Cap, The Purple Cap, Maximum Sixes Award, Most Valuable Player, and Emerging Player of the Year.

The IPL Purple Cap is given to the bowler who takes the most number of wickets in an Indian Premier League season. The award has been a part of the tournament since its inception. Pakistan’s Sohail Tanvir was the first bowler to behold the Purple Cap. Last Year Imran Thahir got the Purple Cap.

The IPL Orange Cap is an award that is given annually to the leading run-scorer in the IPL season. The award was started in the first season of the tournament in 2008. Orange Cap works as a reward for the outstanding display by a batsman. Shaun Marsh was the first player to win the award. He scored 616 runs in 11 matches.

IPL 2020 was originally scheduled on 29 March 2020 but was suspended until 15 April due to the global coronavirus pandemic. After Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on 14 April that the country lockdown would last until at least 3 May 2020, the BCCI suspended the tournament immediately. On 2 August 2020, the BCCI was announced that the tournament would be played between 19 September and 10 November 2020 in the United Arab Emirates.

On 10 August 2020, the Indian government gave permission for the tournament to take place in the UAE. The fixed dates for the tournament was confirmed on 6 September 2020. According to the confirmed details IPL 2020 will be held on 19 September 2020 to 10 November 2020.
