European clothing sizes measures and shoe sizes and how to turn American clothes sizes to European sizes
The United States, Europe, and the United Kingdom all use different methods for measurements, no matter who we are, nothing will fully fit properly.
EN 13402 is a European standard for categorizing clothes sizes. It is based on body dimensions, measured in centimeters. It aims to replace old national dress-size systems, starting in the year 2006.
There are three approaches for size-labeling of clothes:
Body Dimensions
The label states the area of body measurements for which the product was designed. (For example bike helmet label express “head girth: 56–60 cm”)
Product Dimensions
The label states particular dimensions of the product. (For example, jeans label express the inner leg length of the jeans in centimeters or inches (not inner leg measurement of the conscious wearer)
The label states a size number or code with no apparent relationship to any measurement. (For example Size 12, XL)
